You do not need to have any previous experience or a musical background to enjoy drumming. Drumming can contribute to a healthy way of life. It can help to energise us and make us more alert. It can help us release tension and feel more relaxed! The Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health is offering Rhythm for Life free - it is a 6-week drumming circle with Simon Lee at University Centre Folkestone.

Volunteers will be helping to clear proposed growing area, moving greenhouses, decorating small gifts for Mother’s day, potting up seeds and generally rallying to get ready for the installation of their new raised beds, borders and pathways in April. It’s an open invitation for all to bring your wellies and come along and help………….we’ll even supply a BBQ for the workers!!
The recently launched Food4Thought project is taking shape and moving swiftly towards the exciting ‘planting and growing’ stage! The project is based at Pepenbury in Pembury, and is a partnership with Sherwood Park School, Oakley School, Little Forest Children’s Centre, Kent High Weald Partnership and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. Food growing plots are being established for the community at both schools and at Pepenbury, promoting healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and providing an outdoor space for physical exercise. All three sites are actively seeking volunteers at present to help maintain the allotment areas. If you have a few hours a week to spare and fancy helping out, please call Amanda Sheer on 01892 822168 for further details.
